Description

ALEX VENEZIA
INDIRECT PORTRAIT PAINTING
4 Day Workshop
April 2 – 5, 2020
10a – 5:30p
**DUE TO COVID19 THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN POSTPONED – New date will be announced as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Be Well.**

Fresh off the heels of a highly successful solo exhibition at Arcadia Contemporary in Pasadena, California, we are very excited to announce this four day portrait painting workshop with Alex Venezia. Alex’s portraits share a melancholy yet through nuanced color and compelling narrative capture the inner strength of his sitters. In this workshop, Alex will share his indirect method of oil painting, in which layers of paint build, one day to the next, to create a luminous portrait. Working from the same live model for all four days, topics such as gaining a strong likeness, how to edit for the best aesthetic results, the effects of light on form and advanced paint handling will be covered. Some experience with oil paints is encouraged.
