INTRO TO FIGURE PAINTING IN OILS
3 Wednesdays 6:30 – 9:30pm
& 1 Saturday 10a-1pm
March 2024 (SAT 3/2 from 10a -1p; & WEDS 3/6; 3/13; 3/20 from 6:30-9:30p) (NO CLASS on 3/27)
Tuition: $225 plus Materials Fee of $25
While working from a live model to paint the human form, this four week class will include all the fundamentals of oil painting. Please note our first class meets on Saturday 3/2 from 10a-1p where we will go over all materials and will learn to hand grind our own pigments. You will take home a tube of your very own hand ground oil paint. Other topics will include how to do an oil transfer, as well as the best painting practices to ensure your paintings will last. Safe studio practices will be stressed as we explore various oil painting terms and techniques to mix accurate value and flesh colors. Several approaches to painting the figure in oils will be introduced.
The materials fee covers all the expenses for you to take home a tube of your own hand ground oil burnt sienna pigment.
This Figure Series will build skills from month to month, starting with the basic fundamentals of drawing the figure in line and working our way through to painting the figure in oil. Working from the live model, you will develop an understanding of proper proportions, structure and basic anatomy of the human figure. This class will strengthen your understanding of the human form as well as strengthen your drawing and painting ability whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced student. Class size is limited to 15 students.
