JOSHUA CLARE: MATERIALS LIST

Materials for painting are a very individual thing. Bring whatever you’re comfortable with. If you’re curious about what I’ll be using and want to try it here it is:

OIL PAINTS:
Titanium White
Cadmium Yellow Lemon or Light
Lucas Indian Yellow or Cadmium yellow medium
Napthol Red (any synthetic red that can be pushed warm or cool)
Cobalt Blue Hue (Van Gogh)
Ultramarine Blue
Viridian Hue
Burnt Sienna

SURFACE:
I paint on gessoed hardboard or aluminum. To prepare the hardboard I simply roll or brush on an Acrylic Gesso.
5-6 panels total in either of the following three sizes:
9″x12″ 11″x14″ and/or 12″x16″

BRUSHES:
Hog Hair Bristle Brushes (flats).
Synthetic Rounds & flats (various sizes)

OTHER CRITICAL STUFF:
Portable Easel (I use a Soltek Easel)
Odorless Mineral Spirits/thinner (I use Gamsol) and container for solvent
Paper Towels
Plastic grocery bags for garbage
Hat or visor

OPTIONAL ITEMS:
bug spray
water bottle
