FUNDAMENTALS OF PORTRAIT DRAWING II – TONE/ VALUE

This Portrait Series will build each month from fundamentals of drawing toward painting the portrait with confidence and accuracy. Working from the live model, you will develop a deep understanding of the human head. This month’s focus will be on how light affects our perceptions of the forms of the face. Each week we will use a different drawing technique, method, or material to fully explore value. Understanding and getting the right value relationships is imperative in creating a believable portrait whether drawing or painting. Our discussion on accurate proportions, structure and basic anatomy will continue. This class series will strengthen your ability and understanding of the human head whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced student.
If the class size warrants, we will hire 2 models, with a maximum size of 15 students. This will ensure you are able to get close enough to the model to see.
