•1 white charcoal pencil, Generals is good brand.

•Various blending stumps also called torillions

•White retractable eraser. My favorite is MonoZero Round Eraser but if you can’t find that you can find a fatter one from an office store can be sharpened with an xacto knife.

•Strathmore Toned 400 Series Gray paper 18” x 24” (at least 2 sheets -pad comes w/24 sheets)

•General’s compressed Pastel sticks in Sanguine or Sienna color. This can be ordered in specific color 2packs or you can find a multi-colored pack at AC Moore (I don’t like the multi pack as much, because you only get one stick of the color you need, and then three sticks we won’t use).

Optional: The following are all optional items.

•Cream, Ivory or Buff –colored paper (1 to 2 sheets); Strathmore, Canson or Fabrianno Brands. Sheets are sold individually at Jerry’s Artarama and other art stores. You will get charged more if ordering online, because they want you to buy in bulk and otherwise charge a fee. For use with Red Chalk (your white paper could be used if you want to save money).

•Pan Pastel (black or Sanguine color) and sponge applicator (I prefer Knife no.4 w/ sponge tips)

Pan Pastel is great for toning paper and is especially useful because it usually erases easily.

• Conte sticks, Sanguine Natural color (comes in packs of two, or sometimes also in multi packs w/ other colors This color goes better w/ the Conte pencils below, but does not erase as well as the pan pastel.

•Sanguine colored Conte pencils (at least two, sharpened by hand to a long point. Try not to drop these!)  http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/pencils-leads-and-powders/conte-crayons-and-pencils/drawing-and-sketching-pencils.htm
