Materials List – Red Chalk Drawing
Instructor: Alia El-Bermani

  • 2-4 sheets of Ivory colored Canson Mi-Teintes paper (usually sold by the sheet)
  • Generals Compressed Pastel Chalk (Earth tone color pack as seen below or 4pc pack of Sienna #941) These are sold at AC Moore as well as Dick Blick. These particular pastels are erasable and will make your job easier.
  • Koh-I-Noor Gioconda Red Chalk Pencils OR Conte Pencils of similar colors (not conte sticks)
  • 1 General’s White Charcoal Pencil
  •  Kneaded Eraser
  • Faber Castell Pitt Perfection eraser pencil or A White clickable eraser.
  • Sandpaper pad for pencils (or piece of sandpaper from hardware store)
  • One fairly stiff yet clean brush
  • Drawing Board with clips
  • Artist Tape
  • OPTIONAL: Pan Pastel in Sienna color

We will be preparing the paper with watercolor and shellac together on the first day of class.  I will bring everything we need for this but if you could bring the tape especially on this day, that will help.  One sheet will remain untoned, so we can get started drawing the first day while the other sheets dry.
