GLASS PALETTE
My palette is a piece of glass on top of white mat board, backed by a piece of wood. The layers are wrapped together around the edges with duct tape. 12×16” is a good size for travel. Reinforce and bubble wrap palette before transport. If you prefer to not travel with glass, a disposable palette is acceptable.
PAINTING SURFACE
Bring one canvas or panel, prepared with acrylic ground, approximately 12 x 12 inches (square or rectangular). I encourage you to make your own painting substrate. Acrylic-primed stretched canvas/linen or acrylic-primed wood panel are ideal. Apply 2 or 3 coats of Golden Gesso to your surface with a brush or roller. Sand lightly after each application. Allow gesso to dry completely before painting.
